Pubs in the village

Both pubs in the village are now open again.
The Crown opened its doors again last weekend and the Plough continues to do a busy trade at the other end of the village.

Here is a comparison of traffic through the village on Thursday 6th March (before the roadworks) and Thursday 26th June. Both were school days. This was compiled by the Parish traffic monitor which records all vehicles passing through the village.

Volume of traffic down from 6182 cars and lorries to 5644 which is an 8.7% reduction.

Speeding vehicles reduced from 3831 (62% of all traffic) to 1313(23%)

The number of vehicles driving at over 50mph on 6th March was 52(this is 0.84%). On 26th June it was 5 (this is 0.09%)

BT intends to hold a formal consultation process regarding the closure of the phone box on the Old Great North Road as it is now very rarely used. Most people now have mobile phones.

Rutland Mobile Library Service

The Rutland Mobile Library has a new well equipped bus which visits the village every other Tuesday at 3.40 pm. The next visit will be on 13th May.
The new bus carries children's outreach services; a wide selection of books for all ages; laptops with free Internet access; DVDs & CDs; and a satellite dish linking to the computerised library system. It also has a lift for wheelchair users.

At their meeting on 29th April the Rutland Development Control & Licencing Committee deferred a decision on the redevelopment of the Rose of England site.
They will reconsider the application on 26th June.
